Jack watched her go down the street and turn left before he headed to her room. Lori smiled over her shoulder and headed out. “Have a good run Mom” Jack said watching her leave. “I have no idea what to do for dinner so let me know when I get back if you have anything in mind” Her face was well-lined showing the years she had spent outdoors but her bright blue eyes shone forth with determination as she stopped by the front door.

Lori kept her blonde hair just above shoulder length and now she pulled it up into a stubby ponytail. She put on a pair of ankle socks and her well-worn running shoes. She replaced her work outfit with a sports bra, t-shirt and running shorts. Her toned and well-muscled thighs came into her sight as she undressed. She bent forward as she took down her tan dress pants making her abs flash over her flat stomach. Lori was in great shape for her age she routinely came in first place for her age group in her races. She was unbuttoning her white blouse as she talked. “Haha.sometimes I wish you could too” Lori called out. “I know it’s just.I know how hard you work.” Jack trailed off. Just work is work you know” Lori said going past him and towards her bedroom to change. “Same shit different day” she replied with a smile and a shrug. Lori pulled in a few minutes later “Hey.how was your day?” she asked slipping off her tan flats by the door. He enjoyed the silence of the house as he grabbed something to drink and started reading his homework assignment. He also knew that once she did get home, she would change clothes and head out for her nightly run and be gone for an hour. He knew he had at least 15 minutes before she got home and maybe a bit longer. He went in and dropped his backpack by the door. He pulled off to the side like always so his Mom’s car could go into the garage. Jack Andrews made it home before his Mom did.

Running, biking and swimming were her stress relievers, sometimes though, she just wished her life was simpler. Lori ran Triathlons and the last one for the year was coming up she was planning on running 5 miles that night and was looking forward to it.
